PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia 76ers have signed free-agent center Tony Battie.

Team president Ed Stafanski said Wednesday that the 76ers want Battie to provide frontcourt depth and a ``veteran presence'' for younger players.

Terms of his contract were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-11 Battie has averaged 6.4 points and 5.3 rebounds over 12 NBA seasons. He has also appeared in 51 playoff games and was a member of the Orlando Magic's Eastern Conference title team in 2008-09.
